Building Community

It has occurred to me lately how many ways people form community. I am so inspired by those who instill right relationships within family, neighborhood and city. Recently, I have become increasingly conscious of the many people who watch out for me—who are my community of care and safety. Daily I receive their concern: “Be careful, out there, Sista.” “Watch your back.” “Have a blessed day.” “I got your back!” “Sista, be safe.” On and on it goes—the wonderful circle of people (Some I know and some I don’t know) in my life who care about my safety. A very special greeting for me occurs each evening, when the departing children from the youth program wish me peace. I, too, wish peace to all those who work with us and walk with us in any way. I wish you peace!
