Is Your Grandmother a Saint?

I am learning that in the children’s minds there is a fuzzy line between being a saint and being a hero. Before Halloween this year, we tried to explain the origin of this day and that the original beginnings of costumes, etc. was the celebration of All Hallows Eve. People would remember and dress up in honor of those dear and saintly people who were thought of as saints. Today, our children are less familiar with saints but think in terms of heroes that run the range from Batman and Superman to some famous sports figure. But finally, after many conversationsand teaching moments, the question was asked again: Who is a really goodperson in your life, like a saint or a hero – someone you admire and value. Grandmothers won out over football players 10 to 1.
