Stealing from a soup kitchen and children

Authored by Colleen Crane, Capuchin Province of St. Joseph

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen is saddened today. Last night, our Conner kitchen site was broken into and three computers from the children’s computer lab were taken. Someone stole from a soup kitchen and stole from children. And they created disruption and now a feeling of violation....for a soup kitchen whose mission is to help others, to strengthen community, and to nourish spirits. Our own spirit has been shaken, but not broken, and this incident will not impede our work today. We will tutor our children and feed those who come to us hungry. We pray for the individual(s) whose desperation was so extreme that they stole from a soup kitchen and from Detroit's children.
