The Beauty of Michigan’s Autumn Season

“Every leaf speaks blessing to me…” - Emily Bronte

“There is no season in all the year so beautiful, so radiant with glory as autumn.” - Henry Thoreau

Yearly our children in the Rosa Parks Art Studio celebrate autumn in many varied and delightful ways. One of my favorite times is when they really study a leaf. Last week the younger children made beautiful leaf rubbings and the teens did intense study of the line structure of leaves as they made drawings and etchings of leaves. Restless when they first arrive at the art studio, nearly all of the budding artists become focused and intent as they study all the veins and edges of colorful autumn leaves. They truly look at the leaves and notice everything about its complex structure. This year I am taking more time to study the beauty of Michigan’s autumn season. I hope you are, too.
