Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Web Site
Welcome to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a ministry of the Capuchin Province of St Joseph. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, we tend to people’s basic needs, especially the need for food. We also stimulate minds, nourish spirits, and attempt to address root causes of social injustice. Founded in 1929 by Capuchin friars Solanus Casey and Herman Buss, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen serves the people of metro Detroit. We welcome you…whether you are a guest in need of a hand up, a volunteer willing to assist, or a donor willing to support. Welcome to our ministry.

Live Below the Line
Thousands of Americans and people from around the world recently spent 5 days feeding themselves on $1.50 a day. This challenge was to spread awareness of the people living on less then $1.50 a day in the world and raise money for organizations feeding the poor. We challenge you to feed yourself on $1.50 a day for 5 days and donate the money you would have spent to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. Gain support from people on your Facebook page and ask them to make a donation to us in your name!
