We invite you to join us as we celebrate the 39th Annual Capuchin Souper Summer Celebration in a special way this year-as a virtual jewelry raffle to benefit the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
Statement from Provincial Minister Br. Michael Sullivan concerning racial justice and the killing of George Floyd.
With the latest date extension of the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order by Governor Whitmer, and continuing to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and after careful assessment, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen continues to suspend all volunteer services until further notice. As we monitor the situation carefully, we will continue reassessing as we receive updated information to discern an appropriate timeframe to resume volunteer services. This change affects volunteers at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Meldrum and Conner meal sites, Capuchin Services Center, Rosa Parks Children’s Program and On the Rise Bakery. Volunteer opportunities are available at Earthworks Urban Farm.
The Capuchin Soup Kitchen remains open with adjusted hours to serve those in need. We are focusing our efforts on the most critical needs: social work services and food. Each week brings new challenges so please be watchful for further announcements.
The children served by the Capuchin Soup Kitchen through our Rosa Parks Youth Program are in need of school supplies in order to succeed during the upcoming academic year. If you are able to help, please deliver supplies by Monday, August 26.
True to our Franciscan heritage, when a need has been uncovered, the Capuchin Soup Kitchen has responded to that need.
