Charism Day

Today at the soup kitchen we had what we call a “Charism Day.”  We took eight hours with seven of our “newer” employees to reflect with them about the charism of St. Francis and the work we share with these new partners in the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.  It was a good day with some fruitful and animated discussion.  Three of the young men were participants in the bakery program, which helps men coming out of incarceration or treatment to reinvent themselves, as they say it.  These three were the most vocal and most grateful for all that has been given to them for a new start in life.  A former police officer was also part of the group, and one of the bakers asked him, “How did you deal with people like me when you were in law enforcement?”  Now, that started up quite a good discussion!  It’s amazing what wisdom comes from a pool of people who never expected to be a part of each other.  Something good is happening at CSK.
