Faith & Fellowship

At the Faith and Fellowship Christmas gathering we pray and then party.  Faith & Fellowship is a faith development program for persons with mental illness.  Some of our friends who live in AFC homes are bussed in, and we spend the evening together with volunteers.  Christmas is special, and the program differs from our routine.  The people come from the St. Charles Parish area and are served by the parish and the soup kitchen.  We meet at the soup kitchen because of the accommodations.  This particular evening, one of the women held out her hand and handed me a crumpled up dollar bill as a donation for the soup kitchen.  She was in a good space that evening with greater attention and social awareness, and she wanted to give back something.  Her dollar was worth a million, and her smile even more. –Br.
