Prophecy to Zachariah

We had a full house today at the prayer session, about 30 of us.  We read about the prophecy to Zachariah concerning the birth of his son, John the Baptist.  As John prepared the way for Jesus and brought people back to faithfulness, I asked the question: “Who is a John the Baptist Figure in your life—someone who has helped to keep you on the straight and narrow?”

One responder said: “I don’t have any one person, but I see something in each person I know that does that for me—something positive that challenges me.”  Another one said, as he pondered the deaths of the children in Connecticut, he found that children do that for him—they call him to goodness and kindness.  Others mentioned the names of significant people who kept them on the path.  One woman said that she’d go out to head to a drug house, and one an woman down the street would come out and talk with her.  Each time that happened, she did not make it to the drug house, but benefitted from this woman’s influence. -Br.
