Psalm 119

I was waiting this evening at a treatment center to visit a guest of the soup kitchen who is seeking help for addictions, and I met a big burley man, about 48, in the lobby, who has been there for three years—now in transitional living.  He had a Bible in hand and told me he was reading the Psalms.  I said, “It’s a great prayer book.”  “Yes,” he said, “I’m reading Psalm 119.”  He went on to say that he is praying for God’s Spirit.  He said, “My spirit is not good.  It hasn’t gotten me anywhere, but God’s Spirit will help me go where I want to go.”  I replied, “Don’t give up.  He can’t refuse you!” -Br.
