Random Act of Kindness

I had a delightful conversation over breakfast in the soup kitchen today with several of the guests, and one of them made a comment about her boss.  She works part time at a party store, and she said her boss is a tyrant and gives everyone a hard time.  So, one day she went to the Solanus Center gift shop and bought him a medal of St. Christopher.  She said, “I wanted him to be protected because so many people don’t like him.  And, he is always handing things to people in the business.  I never see anyone give him anything.  I thought it might be a nice gesture to give him a gift.  So, I gave him this gift.  He opened it, and I wish you could have seen the look on his face. He was very pleased.”  I forgot to ask if his demeanor had changed, but I suspect he softened up a bit after that.  A random act of kindness goes a long way. - Br. Bob
