Rosa Parks Garden Club

The Rosa Parks Garden Club is fully active these days with twenty new enthusiastic gardeners.  One of their first projects was to plant pansies outside their homes and then share a six pack of pansies with a neighbor. All this was trying to integrate kindness and community building within the hearts of these young gardeners.

Jasmine came back the next day with some tears running down her cheeks. ‘Sista Nancy, we ain’t got no neighbors. What should I do?’  We talked a bit and she was happy when I suggested that we plant her pansies in the front gardens of the Soup Kitchen.

But her words, ’I ain’t got no neighbors’ haunted me all week. I have many neighbors, but don’t know hardly any of them. It is time to start.
