Ten Dollars and a Crucifix

The other day as I walked through the dining room, a gentleman, handicapped and struggling with a cane, moved up to me and with some frustration searched his pockets and side pack looking for something. Finally, he pulled out a silver crucifix about four inches long and with smiling eyes, he held it out and said, “Brother Bob, would you pray over this?” I said sure, and he went on to tell me about it. He was going into the monastery church one day to pray, and a person coming out put a ten dollar bill in his hand. He thought to himself: “I can’t keep this.  I’ll give it to the monastery.” So, he went to the gift shop and found this crucifix and bought it saying, “I’m getting something, but it’s giving back too. I’ve been blessed twice: to receive the money and now to have this beautiful cross. Would you pray over it for me?” I did, and I walked away feeling very blessed.
