Witness of Love and Kindness

This past week of Valentine’s Day offered significant opportunity to witness love and kindness. Earlier in the week, we let the Rosa Parks children make valentine cookies for their families as well as loving heart cards. To make sure that the cookies did, indeed, get home, we let each child eat one or two cookies as they were decorating them. I think a lot of boxes of love and cookies were delivered to east side families last week.

After the children left, some of the volunteers decorated cookies too. After everyone had left and we were cleaning up,  a beautifully decorated box with just one cookie inside
was discovered. Much care had been taken to decorate the cookie with color and a person’s initial. Who could have left it here? Just then. one of our male volunteers came rushing back for the box. Short of money, this special cookie, was a gift to his girlfriend. To me, this gift of creativity and love, was worth more than all the diamonds and roses in the world.
