Signing up for volunteer shifts is easy! Click the heading tab that says “Volunteer” then choose “Volunteer Hub”. It will lead you right to our Volunteer Hub website where you can view openings at our ministry sites. If you see something that works with your schedule, you can create an account in the top right corner and sign up for the shift of your choice. Group volunteers should follow the instructions provided on each ministry sites page.
Age limits will vary at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and depend on ministry specific tasks. Age requirements are listed on all events and shifts on Volunteer Hub.
Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted at both Capuchin Soup Kitchen sites and the Capuchin Services Center. Court-ordered volunteers must contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly and set up a time to complete all paperwork – Volunteer Hub is not to be used for court-ordered volunteers. The age requirement for court ordered volunteers is 18 years. A background check is required of all court-ordered volunteers prior to beginning service.

In general, individual volunteers wishing to return a second time to volunteer will need to complete a background check. Completion of background checks are a routine screening tool to better ensure the safety of our guests, staff, and other volunteers. Background checks are only completed on volunteers 18 years old and up and are free to the volunteer. It takes about 4-5 business days, on average, for a background check to be processed.
Anyone wanting to serve as a volunteer group must contact the volunteer coordinator directly. You can click the tab that says Volunteer, click Volunteer Hub, select your ministry of choice, and email the volunteer coordinator that is listed as the ministry contact. For all non-religious groups, one person can create an account as the “group organizer”. Once the profile is created, pick a date based on openings available on Volunteer Hub, then alert the Volunteer Coordinator on the number of volunteers you wish to bring, which should not exceed the need for that shift. The Volunteer Coordinator will then register your group for that date.
