The other day as I walked through the dining room, a gentleman, handicapped and struggling with a cane, moved up to me and with some frustration searched his pockets and side pack looking for something.

A Shining Star

I have been thinking a lot about stars, recently. In fact, in December about 25 of our Rosa Parks Youth Program participants designed and created beautiful stars to commemorate the shining star that was Nelson Mandela and to celebrate the coming of Christmas. The soup kitchen dining room walls were cheerful and joyful with so many radiant stars decorating them.

Waiting for the Bus

At prayer this morning, we were looking at the beginning of a new year since it was our first time meeting since Jan. 1st.  We read from John that God is love and the one who abides in love abides in God.  So, I asked people to share about a time they have either received a concrete expression of love or had the opportunity to give one to someone else.
